MOTAT - Auckland Yacht Race

Thursday was spent in emulsioning the ceiling of our little Kiwi pad. We are getting to be quite at home in our little room. We have a computer in one corner, double bed in the middle, a coffee table by one window, a book case, drawers, portable loo, kettle along the window facing the park. Out back through a curtained opening is the washing machine with a large sink and hot and cold running water. Above the sink are shelves on which are our toiletries, a shaving mirror and a clip on lamp.

On Friday we kept Zoe out of childcare. I took Sally in to work, bought the care back and off we went to MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology). We arrived just after 10 in time to park on the road nearby. The tickets included a ride on the tram to the other part of the museum and back. Zoe was free. There was more than enough for Zoe to do and there will be much more as she gets older.

Model Railway

Zoe liked the model railway. One visitor told us that she was 7 when she first saw it 30 years ago.

Zoe also like the voice pattern oscilloscope, the flight simulator, the tram ride and above all, the oscillating water spray in the garden.

I appreciated the steam engines, in particular the mechanism. I am please with this shot, showing movement. Although the camera was hand held and a long shutter exposure was used, the movement was not frozen, but non-moving parts are sharp.

Moving Parts

On the way home I spotted the racing yachts. They were a good way across the channel.

Yacht Competition

Zoe spotted an opportunity to back track to the play park at Mission Bay. It was quite a walk away, but nan and she seemed to enjoy the time.

This was a good time on our own with Zoe.
