Emily's Day

On Thursday we were between nannies.

I went off early with Sally to bring the car back.

Daddy took both girls to their schools.

At 11.30 Irene and I went to collect Emily from Kindy. We had our lunch together and then we took Emily to Gymbaroo. This is held in a church hall in Mission Bay. The session involved educational activities, particular those concerning coordination and spacial relationships. There was a well equipped gym. Grandma and Emily really enjoyed the session while I hovered outside.

During this time I went into the pharmacy to collect insect bite treatment. We had had two damp days; one in the bush and one in the glass houses. I will now use insect repellent next time. They only effected me.

We then drove on to Kelly Tarlton's which is an aquarium. Emily has a pass which allows a free adult.

The first thing that happens is that you get in transport which takes you into the Antarctic, with the penguin enclosure being the main attraction.

From here we were encouraged to go straight to the aquarium tunnels to see the sharks being fed.

We returned to the first area where Emily played in the interactive area.

While we were there a diver went in to the large tank to feed the sting rays. I held a stinger from one of them.

Emily had an ice pop as she sat by the actual sea.

We made at least one complete trip of the aquarium tunnels. Emily stood on a stool all the way round the conveyor. I think she did more than one lap.

Finally we spent some time in the sea-horse area where Emily enjoyed a long imaginative game.

I dropped them back. I went to collect Sally and then we collected Zoe who had gone to an after school club in the local church.

We all met together for dinner when Emily was pleased to talk about her day. (Recently a procedure has been started where a teddy is passed from person to person. The person with the teddy tells everyone three things about their day. Zoe has added asking questions to this. The TV is not on and this is a pleasant time for everyone.)

The girls went happily to bed.
