First NZ Weekend

Saturday
The sun still continues to shine. I have decided to leave the camera alone.

This morning Ian and Sally went off to help their friends move  house. We had the children. The girls had a few minutes in the pool. Unfortunately Emily got focussed on trying to get on to the surf board. As 'Pool Captain' on the pool side there was nothing that I could do to help and so the game came to an end.

When Ian and Sally returned it became Ian and my turn to child mind while Sally and Irene went to the shop. Our session started by a trip to MacDonald's for lunch. Once back I played 'Guess Who?' with Zoe. She played well and there was no way to beat her as she always started first and knew exactly what to do. The four of us then went into the pool. This time Emily could be helped on to the surf board. The main game seemed to be 'Chase Granddad'.

This was followed by afternoon tea; except that instead of tea we had Lemon and Peroa'. The girls watched some tv until Sally came home.

We have now had our evening meal. And now that food has gone down the girls are getting ready for a third dip in the pool today before bed.

Today I spoke to the daughter of the gentleman who lives next door. He is 98 and has lived in the house for 50 years. He is grieving over loss of his driving licence. She is hoping that he will soon agree to go to Napier where she can keep an eye on him.

The girls had an evening swim.

The adults watched some TV and had some of the Cadbury's chocolate that is special to NZ. The TV programme that we watched was called 'Lie to Me'. I immediately recognised the episode as one which we saw in Los Angeles in 2009. So, we saw episode 2.

Sunday
We woke up to a wet morning. There were plans to take Zoe to a new activity while Emily went to a birthday party. The plans changed to take Zoe to 'Climb Zone' instead.

Zoe tackles the climbs quite fearlessly.

We also played air hockey.

Zoe is quite sharp at this and scored a few goals against me. Unfortunately a lot of my shots ended up in her goal. Most were quite random.

Air Hockey
After we got back Irene and I went a meander around St. Heliers. Rangitoto is always in sight.

We got back from our walk to find that the pool had been irresistible to the girls and spied Sally and Benny sitting on the pool wall.
